We are looking for a fixed-term Workforce Planning Analyst in the Workforce Planning, Systems and Analytics Unit, within the Defence Human Resources (DHR) Directorate.
The Workforce Reporting and Analytics Team produces workforce analytics and insights to enable our Defence Force to understand, and make decisions about, their workforce requirements.
This role will cover a period of extended leave in the team and is responsible for:
- Turning our people data into insights for NZDF decision makers, the wider People Capability Portfolio, and NZDF as a whole.
- Responding to data queries both internal and external.
- The timely and accurate completion of our core reporting commitments such as Official Information Act requests, Parliamentary Questions, and workforce reporting for the Public Service Commission.
- The management, maintenance, and development of our workforce planning databases and tools.
Fixed term opportunity starts in June for four months – fabulous learning opportunity as you will be supported by a professional dedicated team.

This role will appeal if you are passionate about, or have a background in, data analysis, data visualisation, information systems, human resources or statistics.
We are looking for an analyst who:
- Is curious and keen to learn.

- Is confident producing summary statistics.
- Will contribute to the wider team vision.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:
Low Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
- You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
