You will lead the analysis and collation of operational data from selected NZDF activities in order to contribute to the continuous improvement process and in support of the assessment process. Your insights will contribute to the enhancement of deployed missions across the Joint Force. Continuous improvement in the operations undertaken by the NZDF will enable the NZDF to be an adaptive and responsive learning organisation. Assessment analysis supports the Joint Force to understand the effectiveness of its activities and adapt.
You will be required to:
- Utilise analytical tools and techniques to analyse and collate data into quality continuous improvement and assessment products.
- Conduct a systematic process of collecting, categorising, analysing and disseminating timely, accurate and useful information that describes patterns, trends and outcomes.
- Assist with the drafting of learning products to support continuous improvement.
- Draft and develop lessons, outcome and assessment reports on assigned missions/activities.
- Ensure quality assurance is applied to all analysis and reporting processes.
- Become an SME user in the lessons learned database.
- Monitor Situation Reports (SITREPS), Post Activity Reports (PAR) to inform analytical work.
- Facilitate HQJFNZ After Action Reviews (AAR) in support of the Continuous Improvement Process.
- Provide group and individual briefings and training on continuous improvement, collecting lessons, assessment findings and the use of the lessons learned database.
This role is based in Trentham with free on-street parking available nearby. Due to the nature of the role, there are limited opportunities to work from home. Flexible office hours are negotiable. Occasional work outside of standard business hours may be required to meet operational requirements.

We are looking for an experienced analyst with a good understanding of data analysis tools and techniques. You will have well-developed analytical and research skills with the ability to convert complex data into meaningful operational insights. You will be confident conducting briefings and presentations of your analytical findings and conclusions.
You will also have:
- Good conceptual thinking, adaptable problem solving and decision making skills.
- A strong curiosity to learn and improve processes and operations.
- A tertiary qualification that demonstrates critical thinking and the ability to convey complex problems or equivalent work experience.
This role requires occasional domestic travel. There is the potential for international travel to operations, for which you will require medical clearance.
You need to have a Class 1 Full Driver's Licence.

Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
