As an Advisor, Industry Security, you will play a pivotal role in protecting NZDF people, information, assets, and capability across Defence and its industry partner through the Defence Industry Security Programme.
Working within a specialist security team, you will deliver security surveys, inspections, risk assessments, and accreditations with a strong focus on physical security for our external industry partners. You will provide high-quality, practical advice that supports Defence and industry partners to understand and manage security risks and meet Protective Security Requirements (PSR) and NZDF expectations.
This role is industry focused, relationship‑driven, and advisory in nature — ideal for someone who enjoys building stakeholder relationships, influencing outcomes, and navigating complex regulatory environments.
In this role, you will:
- Conduct physical inspections, security risk assessments and accreditations for Defence industry organisations.
- Provide clear, balanced, and practical written and verbal advice to a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- Work directly with external suppliers and commercial partners to uplift security capability across the Defence supply chain.
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with Defence personnel, industry partners, and government agencies.
- Travel nationally to conduct site visits and engage face‑to‑face with stakeholders

- A full New Zealand driver's licence

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:
Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
