We have an opportunity for an IT Purchasing Coordinator to join Information Command. In this role you will support the end to end purchasing of technology hardware and software across NZDF.

 

This role plays a key enabling function, ensuring Defence personnel have timely access to the technology they need to operate effectively, both in steady state and in support of operational requirements.

 

This will include:

  • Coordinating the day to day ICT purchasing activity for hardware and software
  • Managing requests through service management systems and SAP/SRM
  • Liaising with product owners, commercial teams, vendors, and field services
  • Tracking orders end to end, including receipts, backorders, and follow‑up
  • Providing timely updates and clear communication to stakeholders
  • Producing routine reporting on purchasing activity, demand, and cycle times

To be successful in this role you will have experience in ICT purchasing, procurement coordination, or supply support within a high volume environment. You will bring strong attention to detail, a structured approach to work and the ability to manage multiple requests and priorities concurrently.

 

You will also bring:

  • Confidence working with enterprise systems such as SAP/SRM (or equivalent)
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills
  • The ability to build effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
  • An understanding of working within a large, complex organisation
  • Experience with enterprise software licensing, hardware procurement, or government environments is an advantage but not essential.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:

Low Level Security Clearance

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last five (5) years.
  • You must have a five (5) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
