As the Industry Strategy Advisor, you will contribute to the development and delivery of NZDF's Industry Strategy and Engagement Plan - supporting how NZDF engages with industry to deliver long-term capability outcomes.
This is an opportunity to be part of a new and growing team, working at the centre of Defence, government, and industry connections. You'll provide high-quality advice, support engagement activity, and help build a clearer picture of industry capability and opportunity.
Working closely with the Director Industry Strategy and stakeholders across NZDF and the Ministry of Defence, you will apply sound judgement and analysis to inform decision-making and strengthen coordinated engagement.
Key responsibilities include:
- Contributing to the development and implementation of the NZDF Industry Strategy and Engagement Plan
- Building and maintaining effective working relationships with industry, government, and defence stakeholders
- Providing analysis and advice on industry capability, market trends, and emerging risks and opportunities
- Supporting the development and maintenance of industry and supplier insights
- Coordinating and contributing to engagement activities, including domestic and international interactions
- Monitoring progress of workstreams and identifying risks or gaps in delivery
Please Note: The formal title for this role within NZDF is Industry Strategy Advisor.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:
Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
