Play a key role in safeguarding NZDF's classified systems and security infrastructure. As the Site Systems Security Advisor, you'll provide expert advice across communications, information, and electronic security, supporting HQ Joint Forces New Zealand operations.
You will be:
- Managing and overseeing COMSEC material and accounting systems.
- Providing INFOSEC guidance and monitoring system security compliance.
- Supporting and maintaining electronic security systems (CCTV, access control).
- Responding to and investigating security incidents.
- Delivering training and advice to internal stakeholders.
Due to the nature of this role, occasional work outside normal business hours may be required.
Please note: You will not be able to commence employment until the required NZ Government security clearance has been granted.
Please Note: The formal title for this role within NZDF is Sites System Security Advisor.

- Strong knowledge of COMSEC, INFOSEC, and physical security principles.
- Experience with communications and information systems security.
- Proven ability to handle classified material with discretion.
- Experience in cryptographic key management or security systems.
- Ability to gain and maintain a Top Secret (TSV) security clearance.

To be eligible for the required level of government security clearance with the NZ Defence Force, you need to meet certain citizenship and residency criteria. Here's what you need to know:
Higher Level Security Clearance
- You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
- At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
- You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
