We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Maintenance Planner to join our Defence Equipment Management Organisation(DEMO) unit. In this role, you will support the planning, scheduling and optimisation of maintenance activities using SAP, ensuring equipment across the NZDF is maintained to the highest standard and ready for operational use. You'll work closely with a range of internal stakeholders to provide maintenance planning advice, manage data, and contribute to improved asset performance and availability.

This is a great opportunity for someone at junior to intermediate level who is looking to develop their career in maintenance planning, supply chain, engineering support, or asset management. As the NZDF continues to evolve, you will play a key role in supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

 

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning and scheduling maintenance activities using SAP.
  • Maintaining accurate equipment, maintenance, and master data records.
  • Supporting maintenance forecasting, reporting, and analysis.
  • Liaising with stakeholders to ensure parts, equipment and resources are available.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement of maintenance processes and systems.

This role is based in Trentham. The successful applicant will need to travel to Linton up to 2-3 days at a time until training is finished.

The salary for this role ranges from $70,187-$77,865 inclusive of a 4% superannuation contribution. Appointments within this range are based on skills and experience.

Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako | Skills and Experience

 

We are looking for someone who is analytical, adaptable, and capable of working both independently and collaboratively. You will bring a strong attention to detail and the ability to manage data effectively, alongside clear communication skills to engage with a wide range of stakeholders. Ideally, you will have some experience in a maintenance, logistics or asset-focused environment, and be comfortable working with ERP systems or similar.

You will also be someone who embraces change, shows initiative, and is eager to learn. This sole will suit a self-starter who once trained, can take ownership of their work while supporting the wider team and stepping in when required.

To be successful, you will have:

  • Around 3+ years' experience in maintenance planning, supply chain, engineering support or asset management (preferred).
  • Experience using SAP or another ERP system (maintenance planning, inventory or master data).
  • Strong data management, analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and the wider Office suite.

Higher Level Security Clearance

  • You must be a New Zealand citizen or you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa.
  • At minimum, you must hold New Zealand Permanent Residence or have a current New Zealand Residency Class Visa, and you must be a citizen of and have lived in Australia, Canada, United Kingdom, United States of America or New Zealand continuously for the last ten (10) years.
  • You must have a ten (10) year background history that can be verified and assessed appropriately by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) to determine if you are suitable for a security clearance at this level.
