Job Description

Join an integrated and modern defence organisation with vital civilian roles

Are you an innovative leader able to effectively strategize, plan and develop successful fit for purpose programmes?

Defence Excellence (DX) is a strategic-level sub-unit within the Office of Strategy & Governance focused on embedding a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and organisational excellence across the Defence Force. A key aspect of this is delivering the NZDF's programme of Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement.

The Assistant Director DX (Continuous Improvement) is the NZDF's primary subject matter expert on Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement methodologies.  As a leader the Assistant Director is accountable for developing and managing the NZDF's programme of Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement and ensure that the programme is fit-for-purpose and leading edge.

To be successful in this role you will posses strong strategic thinking, an analytical mind and the ability to ensure the successful development and implementation of NZDF Organisational Excellence, Continuous Improvement, and Pan NZDF Innovation (Defence Excellence) programmes. As an innovative people leader your strong communication and relationship management skills will develop and maintain enduring and effective partnerships, and promote the purpose and benefit of a culture of continuous improvement.

You will have a minimum of a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt but ideally a Lean Six Sigma Black Belt and have a Tertiary qualification in a relevant area, e.g. operations management, strategic management, business/commerce, and/or engineering.

In return for your skills and experience, we offer a unique working environment within a great team and five weeks annual leave.

If you are looking to be a driving force behind continuous improvement and innovation, apply now!

The remuneration band for this position is $106,050 to $131,003, inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution.
