This is no ordinary Health and Safety Coordinator role!

What you will do
As our Defence Estate and Infrastructure (DEI) Health and Safety Coordinator, you will provide, operate and maintain ‘best practice' health and safety strategies and systems across our organisation.
As well as reporting and advice, you will maximise performance through audit, communication and continuous improvement of our health and safety systems. You will also develop and implement improvement initiatives and drive ‘Excellence” across all things Health and Safety within DEI.  
What we need
We are seeking a person with significant health and safety experience within a wide range of workplaces.  Key to your success in this role will be your ability to get out into the business and establish strong working relationships with both civilian and military personnel. This will provide a platform to promote OH&S change initiatives that will enable you to bring people on board with ease.

You will be self-motivating, adaptable and proactive in your approach. In time you will be known as the go to person for all things OH&S within DEI.

Who we are
Defence Estate and Infrastructure develop, maintain and manage land, property and infrastructure assets in order to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes, through the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme.
The Estate Performance unit works alongside the Estate Strategy and Estate Delivery functions, and is responsible for portfolio management, continuous improvement, and information management. The Performance function facilitates and supports governance and decision-making, management understanding and performance monitoring, data management, and aligns delivery of operational and change activity.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
