Job Description

What you will do
 
As Project Coordinator you will provide high level coordination and administration support across the Project Management Office including administrative and financial support to Managers on a variety of Capability Branch projects and initiatives. This is a varied and busy role where you will have the chance to provide input and value across the wider team. You will be the direct support for projects through planning, coordination, liaison and other administration tasks. You will also be the secretariat to governing groups and support the skills uplift through planning and coordinating training. 
 
What we need
 
You are a skilled oral and written communicator with political nous who can confidently interact with staff and seniors at all levels of an organisation. You take the initiative in developing and maintaining robust relationships with stakeholders and colleagues to ensure client satisfaction. 
Ideally we want a positive and experienced Project Coordinator who has aptitude and a willingness to learn. Or, you could be a graduate who has excellent planning and organisational skills and the ability to translate governing group meetings.  
You can work autonomously and you have initiative, enabling you to forge ahead and succeed in your responsibilities. Your expert minute taking skills and ability to understand group dynamics will ensure your success in this role. 
 
Who we are

The Capability Branch provides efficient and effective management of NZDF capability development and delivery; and capability management oversight. Capability Branch provides a single point of accountability for these elements and delivers outputs that enable the delivery of joint effects.  We foster contemporary military specialist knowledge and future thinking, using project and financial management disciplines and providing programme and project quality assurance oversight. 
We work collaboratively with the Ministry of Defence to support the Defence Capability Management System by the Programme and Project Management centre of excellence for NZDF internal projects; and by co-stewarding the Defence Capability Management Framework.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
