What you will do The Fuel Maintenance Bay is responsible for the maintenance and quality control of the Fuel Tanker Fleet and the Bulk Fuel Installation.  This position is also responsible for the delivery, management and continued review of the Air BP Systematic Effective Efficiencies Control Training which involves direct contact with BP.

In this role you will be the 2IC of the bay and will be required to hold the required supervision qualification that will allow you to run the bay in the absence of the normal bay supervisor.

What we need We are seeking a person with significant knowledge of the operation and maintenance of diesel engines and heavy vehicle chassis, drive-train, suspension and ancillary equipment. Combined with this you will also need to have a good knowledge base of hydraulic operating systems, mechanical systems and process and fuel systems including pumps, filters, hoses and meters with the ability to repair and overhaul these systems.

You will have a sound understanding of fuel quality control, HSNO regulations and be prepared to undertake the Air BP Systematic Effective Efficiencies Control Training. Experience within the Aviation industry would be an advantage.

Being used to a workshop environment you will understand the reporting, documentation and computerised maintenance management system that drives the outputs. Within this role you will also be supervising/overseeing more junior tradesman, giving you the opportunity to pass on your knowledge and expertise.    

A good level of computer literacy is needed including experience of using a computerized maintenance management system. A class 1 and class 2 driver license are essential, class 3, 4 and 5 are desirable. You do need to be able to attain a DG endorsement if you don't already have it.

The Maintenance Support Squadron at RNZAF Base Auckland is part of the Air Force Maintenance Wing and is responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of airworthiness products and services to RNZAF Operational Units. To achieve that the Squadron is divided into specialist work units namely an Armament Flight, Component Maintenance Flight, Aeronautical Engineering support Flight, Technical Support Ground Support Equipment, Ground Support Equipment Maintenance Flight and Safety and Surface Flight along with Headquarters command element.
