What you will do  

The Technical Support Orion Controller is primarily responsible for the recording of aeronautical configuration data and maintenance of the relevant databases associated with efficient running of Technical Support Orion core functions. The position also contributes to the staffing of approved Orion aircraft RNZAF engineering change, including Modification, Special Extension/Anticipation, New Zealand Special Maintenance Instructions, Major Defect Reviews and Concession procedural administration.

We are seeking a person who has a sound background in practical aircraft engineering. You will have a reputation for pushing continuous improvement and for successfully solving technical problems, in a regulatory environment. The role is both busy and varied, involving technical support and administration, research, advice and reporting, in order to ensure compliance under the RNZAF Technical Airworthiness Policy.

Are you currently working in the airline industry within aircraft maintenance and thinking about a change?  You will be joining a collaborative team in a unique industry with more than enough work to keep you busy. In a technical role such as this it's essential that you can communicate your message in a confident manner.  To this role you will bring your proven trade knowledge and trade skills combined with a proactive approach. You have strong research and investigative skills, including methodical analysis and an ability to find and develop enterprising solutions.

Some of your major tasks will include; control of aircraft documentation such as maintenance records, weight and balance records and configuration control records, processing of maintenance check flight reports, receipt of external technical data, processing of structural logbooks and audit of maintenance and configuration records.

A recognised military or aerospace industry Aircraft/Avionics qualification and/or P-3K2 Orion experience would be an advantage.

The Directorate of Continued Airworthiness Management Auckland, through the Orion Technical Support Cell is responsible for the Technical Airworthiness of the Orion aircraft and associated aeronautical structure and systems in support of NZDF Operations.
