What you will do
An exciting opportunity has opened up in the NZ Defence Force's Office of Strategy & Governance. As Senior Risk Advisor you will provide expert advice and support to stakeholders throughout the organisation to enable effective management of risk and help cement effective governance and maximise organisational performance.  
You will work directly with senior leaders within a range of business portfolios and projects and develop strong relationships with other business partners; in order to inform and influence risk management strategies to support successful outcomes for NZDF.
What we need
We want an outstanding and confident communicator who is up to date with contemporary organisational risk management thinking, disciplines and best practice. You will be capable of relating to personnel at all levels and complexities with the ability to build strong working relationships with a diverse range of people including senior management. You will also be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality and sensitivity.  
If you have risk management experience including knowledge and understanding of recognised risk management standards, managing risk in complex projects and programmes, an understanding of government sector planning, forecasting and reporting particularly for large scale organisations then we want to hear from you.

The Office of Defence Strategy and Governance supports the Chief of Defence Force to improve organisational performance.  This includes but is not limited to leading strategic planning and foresight, leading the four year annual planning processes, developing risk management strategies and processes and providing strategic risk guidance to governance boards.

Remuneration band for this position is $83,161 - $102,729 inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
