Job Description

What you will do

As Finance Business Partner you are an internal finance consultant aligned to the NZDF business portfolios – this role directly supports the Communication & Information Systems (CIS) branch.  You will report to the Finance Manager Business Partnering and be responsible for the provision of trusted, insightful and comprehensive financial advice and support to CIS and Defence Force Leadership.  This includes providing sound strategic analysis and options, informing and influencing decision making and presenting analysis to assess, support or challenge key decisions.

You will work across a large matrix portfolio and be responsible for effective financial management, budgeting and forecasting advice for the CIS branch during a period of exciting transformation and change.
What we need
Our ideal person will possess outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills at all levels. You will have proven quantitative, qualitative, analytical and evaluative skills and the ability and experience to problem solve, make decisions and think creatively at a senior level. Your strong business & commercial acumen and good understanding of modern business management and financial analysis techniques will enable you to influence and persuade others through various mediums. You will have experience and understanding of CIS support and modern IT environments having previously navigated change and transformation within such domains for a large and complex organisation.

You will hold a graduate tertiary qualification in Accounting and Business and qualified to Chartered Accountant level (or international equivalent) and have extensive practical experience of 7 – 10 years in a finance or accounting role within a large organisation.

The remuneration band for this position is $106,050 to $131,003 inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
