Job Description

What you will do
 
As Project Support Analyst you will provide programme and project management support, guidance, coaching and mentoring to the Programme and Project Managers within the Capability Branch.
Working closely with the Project Support Manager, you will provide direct advice and support to a portfolio of approximately 300 projects of varying scale and within budget ranges from $100K - $2.5B.  The focus will be on providing specialist risk management support to project teams and conducting training on risk methodologies.
Working closely and proactively with key Ministry of Defence and NZDF personnel you will ensure a collaborative and integrated approach to project and programme management support across the Capability Management System. 
 
What we need
 
Ideally we want a positive and experienced Project Support Analyst who has aptitude and a willingness to learn. You will have project environment and risk management experience and be up to date with project management process. You have the ability to provide support and advice when needed and experienced in facilitating workshops and presenting to groups of people.  
As someone who is experienced within the project space you will be a skilled oral and written communicator with critical thinking skills and can confidently interact at all levels of an organisation. You take the initiative in developing and maintaining robust professional relationships with stakeholders and colleagues.  
You will hold a hold relevant tertiary qualification or have experience within a project environment or you might come from a background strong in coordination experience and be looking for the next step up in your career.  You will have a formal risk qualification based on the ISO 31000 standard. Your positive attitude and aptitude will be key to ensuring your success in this role.

The Capability Branch provides efficient and effective management of NZDF capability development and delivery; and capability management oversight. Capability Branch provides a single point of accountability for these elements and delivers outputs that enable the delivery of joint effects.  We foster contemporary military specialist knowledge and future thinking, using project and financial management disciplines and providing programme and project quality assurance oversight. 
We work collaboratively with the Ministry of Defence to support the Defence Capability Management System by the Programme and Project Management centre of excellence for NZDF internal projects; and by co-stewarding the Defence Capability Management Framework.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level. 

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
