What you will do
Be a founding member of the newly established dynamic portfolio management office. As the Portfolio Benefits Specialist you will work with Portfolio Specialists, programme and project professionals and across the wider NZDF on benefit models, metrics and measures tracked as programmes and projects move through their lifecycle stages.
You will ensure due diligence is applied on project planning, execution and outcomes expectations so that the benefits outcomes are known and can be realised. You will collaborate with programmes and projects to track and analyse benefits status across the portfolio, and throughout the project and programme lifecycle.

What we need
We are looking for a key person to enhance our wider ‘Estate Performance' team in the Portfolio Management Office. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team that is looking at new ways to deliver on a large investment programme, working with industry partners.
We want a motivated and proactive person who can hit the ground running in this exciting and challenging role. You will have senior specialist experience and expertise in portfolio, programme and project level in benefits management, analysis and insights. 
You will have a minimum of 8 years experience with large and complex portfolios and programmes and the ability to successfully navigate a changing environment. You will have exceptional communication skills and the ability to work with all levels of our organisation; and strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills, experience in working in change environments, a qualification in Project Management such as P30 Certification, PRINCE2 or MSP. Expert level skills in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Excel, Word and Publisher are essential, Planview is desirable.

NZDF is undertaking a major regeneration and development project across its property and infrastructure estate in order to achieve our overarching strategic aim to deliver an Integrated Defence Force by 2025.  Defence Estate and Infrastructure develop, maintain and manage land, property and infrastructure assets in order to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes, through the Defence Estate Regeneration Programme. The Defence estate comprises over 81,000ha of land, infrastructure and buildings with a replacement value of $2.8bn. Defence Estate and Infrastructure is gearing up for major reinvestment and recapitalisation work over the coming years to 2025.

The remuneration band for this position is $84,824 to $104,783 inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
