Job Description

What you will do

The NZDF Safehand Courier has a unique role in the distribution of NZDF classified items.  This role will work closely with the Defence Safehand Team Leader, other government departments and camp & base Defence Safehand Service Officers to provide best practice in the movement of classified items across an organisation that has a global reach.

This role provides excellent service delivery, resulting in satisfied customers.

You'll help provide an efficient, consistent and standardised service by successfully delivering Safehand items whilst following security procedures when handling classified items in accordance with Defence Force Orders, MFAT and GCSB procedures.  You will ensure compliance with statutory and NZDF policies, as well as health and safety work practices.

What we need

Experience working in secure environments, with an understanding of document classification and associated policies.

You'll be a natural communicator, have strong relationship building skills and have the ability to interact with a wide range of people, including military and civilian personnel.

As well as your competent IT skills and ability to be innovative, discreet and display good judgement, you will need to be a competent and experienced driver (manual and automatic) who holds a current class 1 NZ drivers licence, an NZ Passport and be physically able to lift and move cartons/bags weighing up to 23kg each.

Knowledge of NZDF security regulations and completion of the NZDF Classified Material Handling, the NZDF Introduction to Security and the NZDF Driver Fatigue Management courses will be beneficial to your application.

As this is a part-time/casual role we need someone who is available to work on an ‘on call' basis, where there will be occasional after hours work with domestic and possibly international travel required.

Who we are

The Defence Shared Services Group (DSSG) is responsible for the effective provision and efficient delivery of shared services activities to the whole of NZDF. Our vision and mission is to support NZDF strategic outcomes whilst achieving world class shared service excellence. This will be achieved through a forward thinking approach, continuous improvement, flexibility, collaboration and teamwork.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Why Us
