Job Description

What you will do

The purpose of the Health Administrator role is to provide effective, efficient and accurate administrative support to the Defence Health Centre. This is an integral role within the team where professionalism, an ability to work under pressure and a positive attitude are vital.
 
A typical day in our Health Centre will see you perform a range of duties including but not limited to: 

  • scheduling appointments
  • answering patient queries by phone and email
  • managing referrals to specialist health care providers
  • liaising with ACC units
  • processing accounts
  • maintaining medical files
  • sorting mail 

Providing ongoing coordination, administration and communication between patients and clinical staff is essential to being successful in this role.
 
The nature of the role is busy and varied, therefore previous experience within a medical administration environment is essential.

We are looking for someone who has excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.  You will be technically competent, a critical thinker, and a team player. You must have the ability to provide exceptional support to all internal and external stakeholders and be able to communicate confidently with a range of people across all levels of the business.
 
Who we are

The Force Health Organisation (FHO) is part of the Joint Operational Health Group (JOHG). It delivers all NZDF  health services to military personnel in New Zealand. The health services delivered by JOHG do not include the general wellbeing of persnnel, social / spiritual support, military psychology, health intelligence and OSH functions. The FHO is tasked with building and maintaining strong working relationships with these functions and coordinating the offering of holistic services.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
