Job Description

What you will do
 
As a Global Intelligence Analyst you'll be responsible for the production of operational intelligence products and intelligence support to Headquarters Joint Forces New Zealand (HQJFNZ) decision makers and deployed missions. The position is responsible for collating, analysing and reporting on current threats, issues and developments that impact on NZDF operations, personnel and deployed units.
 
What we need
 
An analytically minded person with demonstrable experience working in a dynamic environment as a team member on important, short-notice and high priority tasks with multiple stakeholders.  Key skills to ensure success in the role include using an open-minded, consultative approach, motivation and drive for learning, initiative, and the ability to use sound judgement. 
 
You'll have proven analytical and research skills with the ability to consider and assess multiple information streams to provide robust advice and turn complex data into meaningful operational and strategic insight.  An understanding of how intelligence supports operational decision-making and prior experience in handling sensitive information will be beneficial to your application.
 
Your skills in completing and prioritising tasks to meet deadlines, ability to proof/edit work,  relationship building and relationship management are crucial this role, as are your refined communication skills, including public speaking.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
