Job Description

What you will do
 
As the Technical Security Advisor, you will provide specialist electronic security services and assessments to the NZDF for the protection of classified material, ICT, weapons and ammunition located within specialist infrastructure sites and platforms (ships, aircraft and land capabilities).  Design, certify and audit electronic security systems installed by commercial providers against Defence policy and standard.
 
You will also engage with industry and other agency partners to ensure the successful delivery of electronic security systems into the NZDF and acts as the Agent for the Certification / Accreditation Authority for electronic security systems.

What we need
 
For the right candidate, we will provide effective leadership and the necessary training and business tools to help you succeed in this role.  Ideally, we are looking for:

  • 5 years' experience working in a technical security or similar role;
  • Excellent communication skills, with an ability to understand customer requirements and provide solutions;
  • A can-do attitude and willingness to learn.

You'll also need to be able to travel, as required, to conduct security inspections, installations or security system design or reconfiguration across NZDF locations.  

Ideally you will be qualified in; TECOM Challenger technician course, CCTV and hold an Electrical Service Technician Certificate or equivalent.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
