Job Description

What you will do

Assisted by a Planning Support Officer, you will lead the design, development and implementation to the EM Org (Equipment Management Organisation) Strategic Equipment Management Plan that will guide the ‘through life' strategic management of all NZDF equipment types, less its ships and aircraft.

You will:

  • Lead the development of associated Equipment Management Plans for individual equipment types;
  • Lead the process to develop the EM Org's annual business plan; and
  • Lead the development of a work scheduling & resourcing model to ensure that the EM Org is fully aware of & prepared to receive new equipment to the pipeline, along with exiting equipment as it ends it service life.

What we need

A skilled individual, comfortable with leading the EM Org planning function to help shape future strategic equipment management. The EM Org is aligning its strategic management of NZDF equipment with the requirements of ISO55000; you will be familiar with this international standard.

You will have practical experience leading or contributing to the development of strategic plans and business planning at the operational/tactical level.

To be successful in this position, you must be experienced in:

  • The development of strategic-level planning within a large and complex organisation;
  • Supporting decision makers with linking the continuum of strategic and operational decisions to outcomes;
  • Solid relationship management practices with effective communication, facilitation and engaging with all levels of stakeholders.

Who we are

The NZDF Equipment Management Organisation (EM Org) provides a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land, Air and Maritime environments, thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic management while in service in NZDF.
EM Org is accountable for the day to day delivery of through-life integrated logistic support (ILS) and management of equipment, enabling NZDF to meet its business and operational objectives to the appropriate standards.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.
