What you will do

This position will play a key role in supporting, capturing the specified asset and design data, monitoring and analysing the performance of facilities and infrastructure assets. You will ensure robust asset management processes are in place, and applied, for decision making using asset information.

This role takes a holistic view of NZDF sites/assets and applies a national strategic lens to the information required to make decisions at a site and national level.  

In this role you will:

  • Work with the Chief Engineer and DEI Information Management to develop and maintain the framework for essential asset information in line with the DEI Data Capture Framework,
  • Ensure business critical elements of asset data are captured, maintained in an accurate and up to date state and linked correctly using NZDF systems, master data management principles and processes.
  • Ensure data that is captured and delivered to NZDF via third party contractors is done in line with the DEI Data Capture Framework and follows the NZDF master data management principles for integration.
  • Work with the Chief Engineer and DEI Information Management to analyse asset data to determine, and report on, performance and status of assets
  • Assist with the application of the asset information to inform decision making around property asset management and strategic outcomes. 
  • Ensure any reporting of asset information is consistent with New Zealand metadata standards
  • Document, and keep current, information architecture as it relates to both the internal and external systems that capture and hold NZDF asset data. 

What we need
We are ideally seeking a person with significant experience in asset and facilities management, working with asset information. You will have managed small projects using asset management principals and processes. A working knowledge of the relevant property legislation, including the Building Act 2004, The Resource Management Act 1991 and the Health and Safety in Employment Act 1992 is essential.
There is a lot of stakeholder engagement within this role, you will be travelling extensively across the Northern region which covers bases and camps from Papakura, Whenuapai and Devonport. This travel requirement will expose you to a wide and diverse range of people so good interpersonal and excellent communication skills are essential.
A relevant tertiary qualification is desirable or other relevant qualification supplemented with considerable industry experience and short professional courses in Facilities and Asset Management.
A current unencumbered motor vehicle driver's licence and the ability to travel and work away from primary location for periods of time is essential. There is the flexibility to be based in either Devonport or Whenuapai.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
