Job Description

What you will do

The purpose of the Geospatial Intelligence (GEOINT) within the Cell is to enhance the situational awareness and decision making processes of commanders through the provision of GEOINT support.  

Based at Linton Militayr Camp, the Support Manager will primarily perform management of GIS data, conducting liaison to acquire data in support of tasks, and performing the generation of webservices in support of various NZDF networks 

What we need

We are seeking a talented individual with 5 + years experience working in a complex GIS environment , including an indepth understanding of geospatial analysis.

Other skills you will possess include:

  • Being an expert in the use of IT with extensive knowledge of ArcGIS software;
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills; you will be become the subject matter expert so confidence is key;
  • Being able to obtain Top Secret Clearance (with caveats).  Caveats allow access to compartmentalized information within a secure environment, allowing you access to highly classified and sensitive material in the course of your work.  When you are accessed for clearance the assessor must have total confidence in the candidate's security trustworthiness. There must be no residual security concerns still remaining after vetting inquiries are completed;
  • Employment within an intelligence organisation (government or military) would be highly desirable.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for.  The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • Most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last ten (10) years, OR
  • Is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one of more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years; either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level. 

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
