Job Description

What you will do
SAP's use is pervasive across NZDF where we use it for everything from Logistics, HR and Finance to flying RNZAF aircraft.
You will join a knowledgeable and passionate SAP team working together to deliver effective solutions to their customers.
As a senior level System Development Analyst SAP, you will join our busy team to manage the business interface via SAP solution manager.
This is a collaborative role where you'll develop relationships across HR, finance and logistics teams as well as work with SAP functional analysts and SAP ABAP developers to develop fit for purpose solutions.  In particular you will be responsible for:

  • Ensuring a consistent approach and that the quality of technical solutions developed are done to standards that enable reliable, cost-effective operation of these systems in line with stakeholder's expectations;
  • Oversight of a wide range of technical solutions, as well all modules of an enterprise wide system relating to solutions manager;
  • Working collaboratively with other Systems Development Analysts within Application Development and the CIS Architecture branch to ensure a consistent approach to the development of all CIS applications.

What we need
This could suit you if you have a comprehensive understanding and experience working with SAP solution manager in a large and complex organisation.
In particular we are keen to hear from you if you have:

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills – including the ability to translate technical language to non-technical audiences and vice versa;
  • Proven relationship management and influencing skills;
  • Excellent researching skills including the ability to analyse future trends in both the business and technology areas;
  • Demonstrated expertise in problem solving;
  • A desire to join and work alongside a committed and collaborative team.

Who we are
Let's just say we're not your typical corporate IT department:

  • We provide support to more than 14,000 military and civilian Defence Force personnel who are dispersed on seven continents, often in geographically remote, hostile environments;
  • Our solutions are deployed to personal devices, vehicles, ships and planes;
  • We're here to deliver military outcomes, not just the technology behind them.

CIS Branch provides the core information and communication services that underpin New Zealand Defence operations.  We are entrusted to deliver and support the Defence technology that helps keep New Zealanders safe.
Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force contributes to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.
 Why Us
NZDF has a unique culture that is underpinned by our shared values of courage, commitment, comradeship and integrity. From day one you will be part of a community that prides itself in protecting our country, giving you real purpose. In addition we offer:

  • Flexible hours and/or work from home options negotiable for a portion of the work week;
  • An interesting and varied programme of work in a unique and complex environment;
  • The opportunity to work closely with a wide range of internal and external NZDF stakeholders;
  • Free parking onsite.

This is a 1 year fixed term opportunity and we expect to appoint around $95k - $105k for this role which is inclusive of a 4% employer superannuation contribution. This may be negotiable depending on experience.
Check out the great benefits for you and your family when you join NZDF!
