What you will do

As the Estate Contracts and Relationships Manager, you will be part of a small multi-disciplined Estate Negotiations property team, providing interface between Defence and New Zealand's commercial, rural and residential property markets.

You will be responsible for:

  • Leading the team's interface of consultancy advisory and technical support;
  • Delivering comprehensive, robust and enduring property related contractual outcomes;
  • Cultivating strong relationships which advocate best practice outcomes.

What we need

The ideal person for this role will be a property/estate and contract specialist who can be the interface between the team and property solutions and will have the following skills and abilities:

  • Proven experience in commercial contract and relationship development and management;
  • Ability to cultivate and maintain strong internal and external relationships and networks;
  • Can understand the varying perspectives and drivers throughout an organisation;
  • Promote Defence and advocate for its best estate outcomes;
  • Minimum of three years' experience working in property and/or a contract related discipline;
  • Relevant property or business management or commerce related tertiary qualification.

NZDF is undertaking a major regeneration programme developing the Defence Estate in order to achieve our overarching aim of delivering an integrated Defence Force. The Defence Estate is where our personnel live, work and train and comprises of 81,000ha of land, property and infrastructure assets valued at $4.7bn.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
