  • Project management;
  • Liaising with external stakeholders (e.g. local/regional Councils, Iwi groups, etc);

This is a very busy role in which you will become an integral part of DEI in the Environmental Services team. The team are supportive and are like-minded professionals who are passionate about the work they do.

What we need

We are seeking a person with exceptional organisation skills and the ability to juggle multiple tasks with conflicting priorities.  As already mentioned this is a busy role and on occasion it can be reactive therefore sometimes it will be a case of rolling up your sleeves and helping out.  A ‘can do' attitude is vital.

In terms of experience we are looking for a person who:

  • Has had practical, technical and in-field experience in environmental compliance, resource management and/or planning;
  • Will be predominantly involved in the environmental compliance programme and will have strong communication, relationship management and project management skills;
  • As an environmental professional you will have an appreciation and understanding of natural eco-systems, experience with environment management and compliance systems (NZDF currently utilises CS-VUE to manage and record environmental compliance and ArcGIS to view and analyse spatial environmental data);
  • Has a strong understanding of New Zealand's environmental legislation, environmental management systems and associated environmental matters including earthworks best practice, three waters management, contaminated land, biosecurity, ecology, heritage and sustainability (e.g. waste management);
  • Will love what you do and will bring energy, self-motivation and flexibility to the role.

In return you are offered the opportunity to work across a diverse range of environmental issues in a complex and interesting environment.

Extensive travel within NZ is a requirement of this role.

Please note: This is a Fixed Term Assignment ending 30 June 2021.
