Job Description

What you will do
You will provide internal stakeholder engagement and communications advice, both strategic and tactical, to Defence Health. Working closely with Defence Public Affairs, you will develop and contribute to internal and external communications to ensure the information suits the audience, is engaging and accessible through NZDF's various communications channels, including print, intranet and the internet. You will also influence positive change by creating approaches and tools to strengthen the communications skills across Defence Health. You will lead the Health Communications team, with support from Defence Public Affairs, with the leadership responsibility of a Communications Coordinator.
What we need
You need to be a motivated self-starter with excellent relationship building skills and solid experience in public relations, corporate communications or a related field. You'll be experienced in supporting and creating change management communications, as well as being skilled in the delivery of consistent high quality advice, including media relations.
You'll have refined communication skills, including skills in professional writing, editing and proof-reading across a variety of mediums and an awareness of a range of communication tools, techniques and channels in order to translate information into compelling communications.
You will also have strong strategic and conceptual thinking, incisive decision making, good judgement, and the ability to be flexible and adaptive to changing needs. Effective people leadership and workload management skills will be crucial to your success in this role.
Who we are
