Job Description

What you will do

This role is responsible for delivery of all Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) documentation leading to acquisition and support contracts. This role is also responsible for developing cross functional relationships between ILS stakeholders and is the conduit for ILS information transfer between NZDF, Ministry of Defence and commercial vendors.

The Network Enabled Army (NEA) Integrated Project Team (IPT) ILS Manager leads all aspects of Integrated Logistics Support for the capabilities delivered by the Integrated Project Team. The NEA IPT ILS Manager is involved in all stages of the project.

Key outputs from the IPT ILS Manager:

  • Support the Integrated Project Team Lead in the delivery of ILS products on time, on budget, to scope and to quality standards;
  • Plan, manage and monitor the delivery of ILS products on behalf of the Integrated Project Team depending on size and project complexity;
  • Identify and monitor risks and escalate as appropriate;
  • Ensure all relevant ILS artefacts are developed to standard and delivered in accordance with the Capability Management Framework;
  • Supportability analysis and assessments of candidate systems;
  • Whole of life cost forecasts;
  • Input into the Capability Integration Plan for the successful Introduction into service of each system delivered by the Integrated Project Team.

This role will be employed in the NEA Programme's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance IPT. You will be required to lead the development of ILS products and plans for the systems that will comprise Army's Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capability.

What we need

Your proven skills in critical and comparative analysis techniques (i.e. quantitative and qualitative), project management planning, forward thinking ILS analysis, and the development/management of ILS plans and  documentation will be crucial.

You will also be:

  • Skilled in stakeholder management and negotiation in complex environments;
  • Comfortable in the management of allied project work-streams including requirements engineering;
  • Outstanding with your written and verbal communication skills, you will be become the subject matter expert so professionalism and confidence are key;
  • Experienced in high valued budget and project management;
  • Proficient in working in small, agile, results-focused teams.

An understanding of military logistics, installations and platforms would be advantageous.

Please note: This is a fixed-term role ending January 2024.

The NEA programme is a Unit within the Capability Branch of NZ Defence Force.  The programme's purpose is to deliver transformational Command, Control, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities to the NZ Army. The programme is responsible for efficient and effective management of the Network Enabled Army capability development and delivery as well as provide capability management oversight.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
