As the Principal NZDF Strategic Simulation Advisor you will provide strategic leadership for simulation in the NZDF and have a direct impact on operational effectiveness in single Service, joint and coalition environments. You will ensure that the NZDF gains maximum value from its investments in simulators and their associated resources.

You will provide specialist advice for NZDF-wide capability development, training applications, network requirements, systems integration and coalition training of simulators across the NZDF and internationally.  You will also drive and direct the implementation of distributed mission training and the strategic development of the NZDF's future synthetic operational enabling capabilities.

What we need

We are looking for a deep specialist who can provide the knowledge and experience necessary to manage the simulated capability of the NZDF in order to match, and possibly exceed, the level of our FVEYS partners and beyond. You will possess significant and relevant experience in conducting and delivering simulation activities within a Defence environment. Experienced in strategic organisational leadership you will develop, evolve and manage the implementation of an enterprise wide simulation strategy.

Building sustainable relationships with multiple stakeholders will be key to your success in this role. Not only can you demonstrate your exceptional skill set, but you can communicate this effectively with seniors and executives at all levels of our unique and complex organisation. A background or experience in instruction and training design is highly desirable. Also, an ability to understand the technical requirements of simulator networks, their operating systems and language/code.

Operational military or military instructional experience would be highly desirable as would experience in IT and/or software and computer hardware and in systems design and development. A relevant master's level tertiary qualification e.g. Defence Modelling and Simulation MSc (Shrivenham) or equivalent is highly desirable.
