Job Description

What you will do

This is an 18 month fixed term opportunity that will see you working with the Principal Planner, to assist with the establishment of the Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) planning function.

You will be involved in the development and implementation of the DEMO Strategic Equipment Management Plan that will guide the ‘through life' strategic management of all NZDF equipment types, less its ships and aircraft.

You will lead the development of associated Equipment Management Plans for equipment fleets and will assist with the process to develop DEMO's annual business plan.

What we need

We need a skilled individual who will be comfortable supporting the DEMO planning function to help shape future strategic equipment management. DEMO is aligning its strategic management of NZDF equipment with the requirements of ISO 55000 so your familiarity with this international asset management standard would be a distinct advantage. You will have practical experience contributing to the development of strategic plans, as well as business planning at the operational/tactical level.

To be successful in this position, you must be experienced in:

  • The development of plans within a large and complex organisation;
  • Producing tangible results in a small team environment;
  • Relationship management practices including effective communication, facilitation and engaging with all levels of stakeholders.

Who we are

The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) provides a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land, Air and Maritime environments, thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic management while in service in NZDF.

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Why Us

NZDF is an inclusive organisation that is open to flexible working arrangements and welcomes applications from people regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, beliefs/opinions, or family circumstances.

In return for your expertise, dedication and hard work, NZDF is offering remuneration reflective of your experience, along with:
