Job Description

What you will do

Be responsible for the day to day provision of direct support for the Maritime Component Commander. You'll ensure the efficient allocation of tasks, standardisation of processes, and overall coordination of support across the office.

You will be expected to provide effective and timely executive assistance, secretarial and, administrative support services to the Maritime Component Commander and their immediate staff as required. This role will require working collaboratively as part of a wider team to ensure a consistent level of support is provided to the Maritime Component Commander at all times.

To be successful in this role, you will have Personal or Executive Assistant experience and be looking for your next challenge within a large, dynamic organisation.
 
Who we are

The Office of the Maritime Component Commander manages support to the Maritime Component Commander. The Maritime Component Commander leads and manages the operational component of the Navy on behalf of the Chief of Navy, whilst also providing expert advice to the Commander HQJFNZ for Maritime operations. To support the Commander, the Office conducts a large amount of task co-ordination, co-ordination with other Components, governance board preparation and conduct, diary management, and general administration and office management support.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
