Job Description

What you will do

This is an exciting opportunity for a policy expert to use their strong analytical skills to integrate existing policy from across the three Services (Navy, Army and Air Force) under one NZDF equipment management policy.  In doing so, the Policy Analyst will use their excellent relationship management skills to facilitate agreement across the Services.

You will lead a small team in the redesign and redevelopment of non-platform equipment management policy (non-platform equipment excludes ships and aircraft). The role will initially redevelop non-platform equipment management policy and then maintain it on an ongoing basis, ensuring its structure and content is fit-for-pupose, remains relevant and user-friendly, aligns with other NZDF logistics policies and reflects NZDF information management principles.

What we need

We need an expert in leading policy development activities (including scoping, analysis, design, and drafting).

As a trusted advisor on policy development and documentation, the Policy Analyst will also contribute to a suite of interdependent initiatives and improvements being undertaken within DEMO to take NZDF equipment management to a higher maturity level.

The ideal candidate will:

  • Be experienced in the development of policies within the public sector;
  • Possess excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder relationship skills;
  • Be experienced in small team leadership.

Who we are

Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-being of Aotearoa / New Zealand.  As a modern, professional military, it is our goal to maintain well trained, equipped and disciplined armed forces that can react to crisis at short notice.

Why Us

NZDF is an inclusive organisation that is open to flexible working arrangements and welcomes applications from people regardless of gender, ethnicity, disability, sexual orientation, age, beliefs/opinions, or family circumstances.
