Job Description

What you will do

The provision of Materiel Requirements Planning (MRP), Purchasing, Inventory Management and Freight functions in order to support the domestic and operational capability of the NZDF.

You'll be responsible for: 

  • Creating Purchases orders and associated purchasing activities;
  • Managing the Material Requirements Planning list;
  • Managing inventory related functions to maintain the accuracy of stocked inventory;
  • Vendor relationships;
  • Manage centralized freight invoices;
  • Daily liaison and communication with key working relationships.

What we need 

Your experience in a purchasing, MRP and/or inventory management environment along with an and in-depth understanding of supply chain management.  You'll be skilled and experienced with SAP (or other corporate ERP systems such as JDE or Oracle) and have strong analytical and numerical skills. 

In order to be a competitive applicant you will also have:

  • Experience in purchasing and inventory management;
  • Knowledge of international importation of goods procedures, shipping terms and regulations that effect the importation of goods;
  • Understanding of supply chain best practices;
  • An understanding of risk management;
  • Proven supply/product research skills;
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Who we are

The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) will provide a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land, Air and Maritime environments thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic logistic support whilst in service in NZDF.

This organisation will be accountable for the day to day delivery of through life Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and management of equipment enabling NZDF to meet its business and operational objectives to the appropriate standards.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Low level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last five years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last five years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
