Utilise your experience with fleet management and logistics in this role with the NZDF. 

What you will do

As the Assistant Fleet Manager for Medium and Heavy Vehicles within the Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO), you will be solely responsible for delivering quality, timely and cost effective through-life-support to the fleet dependency of medium and heavy class military vehicles, trailers and forklifts in order to sustain NZDF capability.

You'll work closely with, and support, the Equipment Manager Medium and Heavy Vehicles in providing the day-to-day equipment management functions required to logistically manage a fleet of vehicles.

What we need

Your experience and understanding of fleet management, ideally with vehicle fleet management, and your experience in a logistics/workshop and/or transport environment.  

You'll have strong relationship building and communication skills with the ability to relate to a wide range of people.  

A sound knowledge of financial principles together with the ability to plan/prepare and manage/maintain financial budgets will be beneficial to your application, as will your ability to analyse and interpret financial policy and information to form a recommendation for reporting.

Who we are

The Defence Equipment Management Organisation (DEMO) will provide a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land (Army), Air and Maritime environments thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic logistic support whilst in service in NZDF.

This organisation will be accountable for the day to day delivery of through life Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and management of equipment enabling NZDF to meet its business and operational objectives to the appropriate standards.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for.  The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • Most preferably a NZ citizen, who has resided in this country continuously for at least the last ten (10) years, OR

  • Is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one of more of the following countries for the last ten (10) years; either Australia, Canada, NZ, the United Kingdom (UK) or the United States of America (USA); and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZ Security Intelligence Service (NZSIS) towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at this level.
