Job Description

What you will do

The Workforce Planning Manager will lead, influence and shape the development of workforce planning to support the NZDF's People Capability Strategy, Service Chiefs and Enabling Portfolio Chiefs.  This position is a key contact and point of escalation for single Service Chiefs in relation to workforce planning and is accountable for providing strategic thought leadership, expert advice and professional consultancy services in this area of responsibility. The position assumes a lead role in future strategic workforce planning activities and demonstrate vision in identifying key HR strategic issues or opportunities facing the Defence Force and implement workforce strategies.

What we need

Solid experience in workforce planning and the ability to provide intellectual and professional leadership to the team, with a track record of trust and respect from their peers, and more senior practitioners.

You'll have demonstrable successes in implementing projects, making strategic level decisions and problem solving, as well as a strategic outlook and the ability to analyse workforce data to deliver new insights.  Your exceptional analytical skills and agility will allow you to translate information and knowledge through a variety of mediums including the use of dashboards, data visualization and reports.

The Workforce Planning, Reporting and Analytics Unit is responsible for providing this support by developing and integrating workforce strategy and supporting HR plans and initiatives for the overall NZDF effect of generating a sustainable workforce.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
