Job Description

What you will do

As the Navy Portfolio Co-ordinator you will undertake the direct liaison with Programme and Project Managers and provide advice on Project Management disciplines, to support a multiple projects through all stages of their lifecycles.  

Additionally you will be responsible for:

  • Working with Project Managers to ensure data completion and integrity;
  • Facilitating meetings to draw information and insights from subject matter experts;
  • Assisting Project and Programme Managers with the development of their skills and competencies in management of schedules, finance, resources, benefits, risks, issues, dependencies, change control, stakeholder and change management. 

What we need

To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent coordinator who has had exposure working within a project environment.  You will be a self-starter and able to build relationships across varying levels of an organisation. You will need to have:

  • Experience in facilitating and presenting to small groups;
  • Knowledge of Planview (or similar portfolio/project management tool) or other P3M systems;
  • An ability to engage, guide and liaise with senior personnel and develop strong working relationships;
  • High levels of proficiency in software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint;
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills.

The Navy Portfolio Team oversees and reports on the performance of Navy change initiatives under the RNZN N-Gates process on behalf of the Naval Systems Management Group (NSMG) and Navy Leadership Board (NLB).

The team provides support and coaching to Sponsors, Programme and Project Managers and monitors the wider NZDF initiatives being delivered to Navy on its behalf.  The objective of the Portfolio Team is to support the successful realisation of the RNZN Implementation Plan.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
