What you will do
Lead the delivery of a comprehensive purchasing to payment service ensuring best practise services are provided to NZDF, along with:

  • Managing the day to day operational requirements of your teams;
  • Providing an environment that supports the delivery of exceptional service;
  • Operational oversight of all processes to ensure the integrity of systems and compliance with NZDF policy and legislation;
  • Engage and communicate effectively with all external and internal stakeholders.

As an integral part of the Business Services team you will lend your expertise to policy development, enhancing current processes and shaping new initiatives, along with providing oversight on operational requirements to the Senior Leadership Team.
What we need
A highly motivated, self-starter with considerable experience in financial management where you have demonstrated effective leadership within procurement, purchasing and payment services, ideally within a diverse public or private sector organisation.  You'll also hold a tertiary level qualification relevant to this role.
As a business savvy individual you are highly effective at delivering quality outcomes, fostering a continuous improvement culture, driving change and taking a forward thinking approach to planning.
You're a confident communicator and influencer who proactively engages with stakeholders and builds strong professional relationships. As a dynamic leader you lead from the front to consistently deliver exceptional service, along with motivating and empowering your team to do the same.
Who we are
The Directorate of Defence Commercial Services (DCS) is responsibilities for Strategic Procurement, Supplier Performance Management, Procurement Operations and Business Services Processing with the mandate to achieve improvements in procurement performance; and delivery of sustainable business benefits across NZDF. The Business Services Group within DCS is responsible for the effective management of corporate purchasing, accounts payable, and treasury payment functions as well as transactional accounting and compliance.

The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
