Job Description

What you will do
 
The Continuous Improvement Lead will work actively within the business to identify, analyse and improve organisational processes. You'll work closely with developing business processes, risk management and the NZDF Equipment Management Organisation (EM Org) operational and strategic support personnel. Additionally you will lead, guide and mentor personnel undertaking continuous improvement activities. While Lean Six Sigma is a preferred approach to continuous improvement, it is expected the role will apply other approaches as appropriate.
 
What we need
 
Utilising your skills and expertise with formal kaizen methodologies, you will take the lead in implementing changes, acting as leader, manager and mentor through different areas of the organisation.
 
You'll have familiarity with change management and excellent relationship management & strategic planning skills.
 
In order to be successful in this role you will:

  • Develop short and long term strategies for the organisation incorporating Six Sigma, Agile and other practices as appropriate;
  • Have experience in preparing and delivering presentations to a range of audiences;
  • Monitor CI progress in order to check if changes are yielding desirable results;
  • Have experience with business management techniques and tools;
  • Demonstrate well-developed analytical skills with the ability to think strategically and laterally;
  • Have the ability to deal with complex conceptual issues and to apply problem solving techniques.

In addition, you'll hold an appropriate qualification in a related discipline, as well as current Lean Six Sigma (or other CI methodology) experience.

Who we are
 
The NZDF Equipment Management Organisation (EM Org) will provide a single point of accountability for the through-life management of specified equipment across the Land, Air and Maritime environments thereby ensuring that all equipment receives consistent strategic logistic support whilst in service in NZDF.
 
This organisation will be accountable for the day to day delivery of through life Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) and management of equipment enabling NZDF to meet its business and operational objectives to the appropriate standards.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
