Job Description

What you will do

Manage requirements throughout the capability life cycle. You will be the lead on the development and drafting of requirements to support the acquisition of NZDF capabilities.

In addition, you will be responsible for the process of generation, analysis and management of the requirements for the Network Enabled Army (NEA) Programme and its Integrated Project Teams. The role will also conduct planning and coordination of Programme system engineering effort.

What we need

This challenging role requires a motivated, big picture thinker with a logical mind and superb analytical skills. You will need an appreciation of requirements development methodologies, the ability to turn insights into solutions, and the desire to deliver results.

As the Requirements Manager, you will be the subject matter expert on requirements-related methodologies and processes for the New Zealand Army's NEA Programme.  You will have a demonstrated understanding of system engineering, reflecting the technical nature of the Programme.

You'll also: 
  • Be adaptable, curious, a great problem solver and able to work across various domains, stakeholders and projects with ease to achieve your goal;
  • Need a collaborative approach with the ability to understand challenges and communicate easily with different audiences;
  • Have outstanding communication and interpersonal skills;
  • Enjoy developing strong relationships with stakeholders; and
  • Building and maintaining trusting relationships with requirements leads and requirements engineers, throughout the Ministry of Defence and New Zealand Defence Force organisations.

The NEA Programme is part of the Capability Branch of NZ Defence Force.  The Programmes purpose is to deliver transformational Command, Control, Communications, Computer, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance capabilities to the NZ Army.

Please note: Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand (NZ) and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for. The minimum citizenship and residency criteria for security clearances to be granted by the NZ Defence Force are as follows:

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.

If you do not meet these minimum criteria, we will not be able to accept your application.
