What you will do

As Director, Enterprise Products and Services (EPS) you will join the Communications and Information Systems (CIS) senior leadership team to build and lead the establishment and development of a large and diverse team of approximately 160 technology professionals.

The newly established EPS teams are responsible for the strategic direction, maintenance, and continuous improvement of NZDF technology including end user technologies, platforms, infrastructure and deployable capabilities. 

NZDF uses a range of satellite and terrestrial systems to support more than 14,000 personnel, as well as core systems to support logistics, human resources, and finance.

Please note that this role will initially be based in Petone however we are currently working through our longer-term office location requirements in the broader Wellington area. This means that in future you may need to be able to work in one of our other CIS offices across the Wellington and Hutt Valley region. 

What we need

We are keen to hear from you if you are an infrastructure professional with a track record of building a strong culture of delivery. 

You will be collaborative by nature with the ability to communicate complex information at the appropriate level of detail to facilitate decision-making.

In particular you will have the following skills and attributes:
  •         Authentic and experienced people leadership of large operational teams;
  •         In-depth understanding of IT infrastructure in an environment with multi-national deployed resources;
  •         A successful track record managing change in a complex environment;
  •         Commercial acumen including experience negotiating with, establishing, and managing IT vendors in an outsourced environment;
  •         Ability to build clarity and deliver outcomes despite ambiguity and complexity;
  •         Political awareness;
  •         Excellent communication and influencing skills, able to build trust;
  •         Naturally collaborative.
Experience working within an agile environment and/or an industry qualification in project management or agile frameworks is highly desirable.

  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 15 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
