Lead project control groups to ensure all project resources are being utilised in the most efficient and effective manner.

What you will do

The Project Officer manages and leads capital and operating funded projects (from $10,000 up to $5 million in value) at the base level.  This role requires the use of project management methodologies and multi-stakeholder management to ensure that the projects support the delivery of NZDF outputs.  It's responsible for input into project development and planning and then, once approval is given, ensuring that funded projects are delivered to their successful conclusion.

What we need

We are seeking a person who will bring their strong technical skills to this role. Your experience could be within the civil sector, architecture, electrical industry, mechanical engineering or even IT industries; this experience enables you to understand the context and requirements of projects in this role.

In addition to this experience, you will also have a good understanding of contract management under NZS 3910. You will be a confident communicator and able to work across all levels of an organisation.  Building and maintaining strong working relationships are key in this role in order to manage expectations.

You will be joining an awesome team who work well together and who understand innovation. This is a base centric model which may see you, at times, involved with work at Devonport and Whenuapai.

Who we are

Estate and Infrastructure are critical enablers for the delivery of NZDF military capabilities and the support it provides to other government agencies and the community.

The current estate is a complex network of approximately 81,000 hectares and 5,000 buildings spread across nine camps and bases, two large land training areas and various regional locations.

The purpose of the Defence Estate and Infrastructure is to develop, maintain and manage land and infrastructure assets to support NZDF military capabilities and all of government outcomes.

Higher level Security Clearance

  • most preferably a NZ citizen who has resided continuously in this country for the last 10 years, OR
  • is a citizen of, and/or has resided continuously in one or more of the following countries for the last 10 years: either Australia, Canada, NZ, UK or the USA; and has a background history that is verifiable and can be assessed as appropriate by the NZSIS towards a recommendation of suitability for a security clearance at a higher level.
