The Electricity Authority Te Mana Hiko is an independent Crown entity that regulates the electricity market. We are a kaitiaki of electricity, and our purpose is to enhance New Zealanders' lives, prosperity, and environment through electricity.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are seeking a recent graduate or early career policy analyst, you will contribute to the development of evidence-based, consumer-focused policy solutions that help ensure Aotearoa New Zealand's electricity sector delivers reliable, affordable, and efficient outcomes for consumers. This is an excellent opportunity to build your policy skills while working on complex and high-impact issues that shape the future of the electricity market.

Working alongside experienced policy professionals, you will support a range of projects within our Wholesale Markets Policy team. You will undertake research and analysis, help develop policy options, engage with industry stakeholders, and contribute to advice provided to the Authority's senior leaders and decision-makers.

Nōu te rourou - What you'll bring

You will bring the following:

  • A relevant qualification in public policy, law or economics, finance, engineering or business.
  • Prior experience in a policy or regulatory role is preferable.
  • A proven track record of producing high quality work.
  • Stakeholder management experience in Government and/or industry.
  • An understanding of the relationships between the different parts of the electricity industry, including the likely incentives/drivers on participants is desirable but not necessary.
