Senior Advisor - Communications (6 months fixed-term) at Electricity Authority, Wellington - Wairarapa

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

We are looking for a Senior Advisor - Communications to join our team for six months while one of our team takes a period of leave.

In this role, you'll provide strategic communications advice and delivery across a range of initiatives that support the Authority's reputation as a trusted regulator. Working closely with subject matter experts and stakeholders across the organisation, you'll:

  • develop and deliver communications and engagement plans that support organisational priorities
  • provide trusted communications advice on complex issues, risks and opportunities
  • translate technical and regulatory information into clear, engaging content for a range of audiences
  • lead media engagement activities, including proactive opportunities, media releases and responses to enquiries
  • create content across a range of channels, including digital platforms, social media, reports, speeches and presentations
  • monitor emerging issues and stakeholder sentiment to help inform communication approaches
  • build strong relationships across the Authority and contribute to a collaborative, high-performing team culture.

Nōu te rourou - What you'll bring:

  • At least 5 years' experience in communications - ideally working alongside a multi-disciplinary communications team
  • A can-do attitude with initiative and the ability to think outside the box
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • A talent for spotting media opportunities, driving engagement and managing queries
  • Experience in development and execution of end-to-end communications plans across all channels
  • A knack for building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders
  • A passion for translating technical or complex information into meaningful messages
  • Experience in the energy sector is preferred (but not necessary)
  • Experience working with digital channels including e-newsletters, social media and/or website content management systems
