Contract and License Analyst
The Audit Office | Te Mana Arotake aims to improve trust and confidence in public services by giving New Zealanders an independent view of government spending and performance. As the statutory auditor of all public organisations, from councils to schools, the Auditor-General's work plays a major part in ensuring that our public sector remains one of the most trusted in the world.
We're looking for a Contract and License Analyst to join our Digital team and play a key role in managing the Office's ICT contracts, cloud subscriptions, and software licensing. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working across contracts, licensing, procurement, finance, vendors, and stakeholders, and who can bring structure, analysis, and sound judgement to a portfolio that's critical to our digital services.
In this role, you'll be the subject-matter expert for software licensing and subscription management, supporting purchasing, renewals, true-ups, invoice validation, and approvals, helping ensure that the Office receives value for money and remains audit-ready.
Your responsibilities will include:
- co-ordinating the full lifecycle of ICT contracts, owning and administering software and cloud licences and subscriptions across a multi-vendor portfolio;
- maintaining accurate entitlement, licensing, and contract records;
- tracking expenditure and forecasts;
- building strong relationships with software users, ICT vendors, and resellers;
- supporting security governance; and
- contributing to procurement and annual planning.
To succeed in this role, you'll have:
- Experience in ICT contract and commercial management in a cloud-first, multi-vendor environment, including software licensing and SaaS/PaaS/IaaS subscriptions.
- Experience with software asset management or subscription lifecycle processes.
- Strong communication and analytical skills, with the ability to explain complex licensing models clearly and provide practical advice and recommendations.
- A tertiary qualification in IT or business, or equivalent relevant experience.
An understanding of ITIL disciplines, experience working with Microsoft cloud platforms or holding relevant certifications, and knowledge of security standards such as ISO/IEC 27005, NZISM, or PSR would be advantageous.
We offer our staff:
- Ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.
- Supportive hybrid working arrangements (flexible hours/days).
- Health and well-being benefits.
