To enable the Department to deliver on public safety and reducing re-offending outcomes requires a Finance function that is agile and nimble, with the capability to influence and partner with the business.  In order to better support a business that is dynamic and fast paced the Finance Team is continuing to focus on strategic medium term advice to ensure we have the capability to support the Department in achieving its outcomes in financially sustainable way. 

 
The Deputy Chief Financial Officer - Business Partnering will primarily be responsible for leading the provision of strategic financial, commercial and non-financial performance analysis and advice to the business.  In this role you will provide sound strategic advice and analysis, inform and influence decision making through representing performance information to monthly Finance Governance meetings and present compelling arguments to support or challenge business decisions.


The Department has a diverse range of activities including dairy farming, housing construction and a large asset portfolio which enables this role to be involved in interesting and fast paced conversations and projects.


The successful candidate will lead an influential team of professionals and establish working relationships with senior management. The ability to create the right working environment to ensure high quality partnerships are built and maintained is essential. The position holder will have the latitude to select, develop, lead, motivate, coach and manage their direct reports and indirect reports.  The role will champion high levels of performance by raising standards in key decision areas and foster a forward-looking commercial performance view.

 
The role requires a fundamental understanding of organisational concepts, principles and cost drivers, to support the development of new solutions to business challenges. To be successful in this role you will have advanced strategic thinking ability including demonstrable experience in applying commercial principles when developing business and financial management strategies.
