Job Description

  • Wellington CBD location
  • Full-time permanent or secondment opportunity
  • Functional and strategic leader

The Ministry for Pacific Peoples is the principal advisor on policies and interventions that improve outcomes for Pacific Peoples. We bring the Pacific voice, perspective and understanding into policy. We are the guardians and the caretakers of Pacific knowledge, culture and identity, and we support and take stewardship over our Pacific communities and peoples.

We have a challenging yet rewarding opportunity in our National Office in Wellington for an experienced ICT leader and professional in the role of Director Information, Systems and Security.

The position of Director Information, Systems and Security exists to manage and ensure the delivery of ICT Systems and Security services as well as oversight of our Information and Records management work programme to ensure the Ministry has the infrastructure required to meet all compliance and service needs for the Ministry to work effectively now and in the future.

The Ministry needs someone who can hit the ground running and who will know what needs to be done and can deliver. This includes leading the implementation of The Ministry's ICT roadmap, providing leadership on security risks as well as maintaining oversight of the information and records management practise across the Ministry, regularly engaging with senior leaders to understand their ICT business requirements, and delivery of high-quality advice and support to the Senior Leadership team. This is truly both a strategic and hands on technical role with a small team to lead the work to meet the priorities of the Ministry.

About you

You will have a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in the ICT field and proven experience leading a team of professionals. You will be flexible and a brilliant multi-tasker. You will be looking for your next break to lead a functional area or a seasoned leader looking to work in a values-based organisation. You will be an innovator and excellent at liaising with people and have a 'how can I help' approach that will be necessary to make this job work. You must be good at communicating the big picture as well as getting into the detail and delivering on initiatives, ideally but not necessarily you will have the ability to speak a Pacific language and have some knowledge of and empathy for the organisation's journey and values.

To help you succeed, you will be given the opportunity to:

  • lead and manage the Information, Systems and Security team to ensure high quality effective information and records management, ICT and security systems across the Ministry
  • develop and maintain external networks of significance to ensure relevancy and support of the Ministry's role across the ICT, security and information management sector
  • establish, maintain and implement security related policies and procedures relevant to the Ministry
  • build your professional skills, knowledge and expertise across a wide range of ICT, Security and Information and Records management areas
  • be part of a small, fun and energetic team, focused on delivering outstanding service
  • work collaboratively with our team and with partner agencies e.g. PSR, DIA.

If you believe in our purpose and want to be a part of our close-knit team, come join an organisation where you will be recognised and feel valued for your leadership and hard work here at Ministry for Pacific Peoples.
