Job Description

At Parliament, we don't just watch democracy in action - we're part of it. And at the Office of the Clerk, we work directly at its core.

We provide advisory services to the House of Representatives, and directly assist the House and its committees with the work of Parliament.

We're looking for a Hansard Editor - could this be you? Your primary duties would be capturing and editing the official record of the House of Representatives.

To succeed in this role, you'll need to have the following:

  • An excellent knowledge of the English language
  • Flawless spelling and grammar
  • A very keen eye for detail
  • An up-to-date knowledge of local and global affairs
  • Some Te Reo Maori would also be useful

Your effective social and collaboration skills will ensure you are able to support the wider Hansard team. Your well-developed organisational skills will enable you to play your part in the timely publication of Hansard. You will also be able to demonstrate our values, which are impartiality, trustworthiness, courage, openness, and innovation.

Whether you are keen on working full-time or part-time we would love to hear from you.

  • If you choose to work full-time, you would work Tuesday to Friday during Parliament's sitting weeks, and standard office hours during non-sitting weeks
  • Please note that this role includes evening work up to 11.00pm, and some longer hours during extended sittings and urgency
