Job Description

Case Briefing Officer (12-month fixed term – full time or part-time)

The SFO is a highly specialised government department responsible for serious or complex fraud investigations and prosecutions, including bribery and corruption.  We take pride in the work that we do in helping keep New Zealanders safe from financial crime.  We employ a high-quality team of accountants, lawyers, investigators and computer forensic specialists to ensure we do just that.

A newly created opportunity has arisen to join the SFO as the Case Briefing Officer.  You will make an important contribution to the preparation of SFO cases for prosecution by completing formal statements during investigations and prosecutions and may undertake other prosecution support roles such as liaising with potential witnesses, preparation of evidence and trial logistics.

This is a fantastic opportunity if you have experience in the criminal prosecution environment and processes.  Your proactive, enthusiastic and energetic approach coupled with the ability to communicate and work across the business effectively will make you a good fit for the SFO.

We are seeking candidates with:

  • experience in preparing formal statements for criminal investigations
  • experience in identification of relevant and/or admissible evidence and facts to be proven
  • the ability to think laterally and develop sound innovative and practical solutions
  • excellent analytical skills
  • the ability to use the SFO's evidence management platform, Relativity.

At the SFO, we recognise that diversity and inclusion is important to our business.  We value the unique perspectives of our employees which allows us to continue to create a supportive environment that meets the needs of our people, our business and the communities where we work.

We would be interested in hearing from candidates who can fulfill this role on a full-time or on a part-time basis (no less than 0.6 FTE).

If you are interested in this role or you would like further information, please send your resume and details to quoting reference HRC0002621.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for.  Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.

Closing date: 5.00pm Thursday 25 July 2019
