Job Description

Forensic Accountant (12-month fixed term)

The SFO is a highly specialised government department responsible for serious or complex fraud investigations and prosecutions, which include bribery and corruption. We take pride in the work we do to keep New Zealand safe from financial crime.

Forensic Accountants form a critical part of a multi-disciplinary team assigned to each investigation and contribute to the investigation strategy of a case, provide in-depth accounting and financial analysis, conduct case related witness interviews and provide expert evidence in court.

This is a great opportunity for an experienced accountant with an investigative mindset wishing to work in the context of some of the country's biggest and most complex fraud cases. We are looking for you to have:

  • the ability to perform and interpret relevant complex financial analysis;
  • an understanding of how business activity is documented, recorded, reported, managed and controlled;
  • the ability to document and explain business information and the results of the financial analyses; and
  • two years' experience, at least, as a qualified accountant.

To be considered, you will be a member of either CPA, CAANZ or equivalent.

At the SFO, we recognise that diversity and inclusion is important to our work. We value the unique abilities and perspectives of our employees which allows us to continue to create a supportive environment that meets the needs of our people, our business and the communities where we work. We have a strong workplace culture.

If you are interested in this role or you would like further information, please send a PDF version of your resume and details to quoting reference HRC0003365.

Applicants must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand and be able to obtain and maintain the required level of NZ Government security clearance for the position applied for.  Applicants who do not meet these requirements will not be considered.
