Te Tari Taake Inland Revenue plays a critical role in improving the economic and social wellbeing of Aotearoa New Zealand. We do this by collecting and distributing money - we collect 80% of the Crown's revenue and distribute social support payments.

The role will be sitting in the Customer and Compliance Services, focused on the group's compliance and revenue priority.
Mō te tūnga - About the role
This role is critical to advancing the use of behavioural insights at Inland Revenue.
You will be focused on:
- playing a leading role in reviewing how we bill customers and encourage on-time payments
- working with the broader project team which will involve: diagnosing the drivers and barriers to behaviour, using behavioural mapping and other tools
- conducting primary (e.g. observations, interviews, surveys) and secondary (e.g. administrative data) research
- designing interventions to improve payment behaviour, drawing on an understanding of what works in other jurisdictions
- designing and running trials, with a focus on using randomised controlled trials to determine impact
- reporting and communicating findings
- developing and maintaining important relationships across Inland Revenue
- contributing to the behavioural insights community in Inland Revenue.
Mōu - About you
To be successful in this position you will have:
- applied experience of behavioural insights and direct experience of how it can be applied to help solve complex problems
- evidence of successfully applying behavioural science and the associated methods and tools like EAST, BASIC or COM-B to improve service delivery
- experience leading, piloting, iterating, and testing the feasibility of behaviour change interventions, in particular using randomised controlled trials
- a strong commitment to developing your cultural capability and capacity in te ao Māori and whakaaro Māori
- evidence of strong project and stakeholder management capability
- strong workshop facilitation experience
- comfort and ability to craft a narrative using storytelling approaches
- relevant formal tertiary qualifications.
